The enchanting experience of “Tokyo Moon: Clouds and the Moon”—a garden event at the Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo

From September 19, 2023, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, known for its magnificent Japanese garden, is holding a moon viewing event featuring a fantastical sea of clouds. Why not go for a nice garden walk, as nights become longer as autumn deepens?

Despite being located in the heart of Tokyo, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, which has a forest-like Japanese garden, is a place where you can enjoy the changes that take place between the seven seasons: camellia, cherry blossoms, verdure, fireflies, cool summer/deep green, autumn, and winter. It also offers a variety of activities, such as calligraphy, Japanese drums, a samurai experience, and manga drawing, through which you can immerse yourself in the natural beauty and traditional culture of Japan.

The garden is an oasis unlike any other in Tokyo.

It is also popular as a hideaway hotel where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

One of the popular attractions at the hotel is “Tokyo Sea of Clouds.” Using special nozzles and devices and artificially creating a sea of clouds in the garden, you can view a sea of clouds, which can only be seen under certain conditions in the natural world. You can not only view the sea of clouds, but also touch it or get yourself wrapped in it, so why not check it out and experience it for yourself and see if you can stand on clouds, just like you dreamed about when you were little?

The Japanese garden floating in a sea of clouds is breathtaking.

And the event currently being held at the hotel is a garden spectacle titled “Tokyo Moon: Clouds and the Moon.” In this event, the clouds are sprayed upward toward the sky through the nozzle, creating a “screen” of a sea of clouds above the pond. Then, an image of the moon is projected onto the screen, creating a fantastical view. The shape of the screen changes due to winds and other meteorological conditions, so you can also appreciate the beauty of the ever-changing moon.

The "Moon of Tokyo" is projected onto a sea of clouds. The moon is approximately 3 meters in diameter, and even the craters can be seen clearly.

The Japanese garden is open only to the hotel guests and to those who are using the hotel facilities, such as the restaurants. “The closest moon in Tokyo”—a new spectacular scenic site created in Japan this autumn. The moon has always been captivating our minds since ancient times. Why not appreciate the beauty of the moon within arm’s reach and to your heart’s content?
